Three Champion
Racing Association Divisions In Action Together This Sunday At Baer
Field Speedway
Salem, IN (May 17, 2006) –
Racing fans can get their fill this Sunday at Baer Field Speedway in
Ft. Wayne, Indiana as Champion Racing Association presents the CRA
Super Sunday which will
include
racing action from three Champion Racing Association divisions
including the CRA Super Series, CRA Street Stocks and CRA Sportsman.
Also on hand will be the exciting winged Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series
in an action packed afternoon of racing.
The CRA Super Series will be battling
in their fourth event of the season with current points leader Chris
Gabehart leading the way along with current runner-up in points Andy
Ponstein. Jeff Lane, the winner of the last CRA Super Series event at
Baer Field Speedway in October of 2004 and the winner of the last CRA
Super Series event of the 2006 season at Winchester Speedway on April
23rd will be looking to return to victory lane along with
series veteran Scott Hantz who is tied with Eddie Hoffman for the most
series victories at Baer Field Speedway with two.
Local CRA Super Series car owner
Floyd Fehl from Ft. Wayne hopes 1997 series champion Kenny Tweedy can
take his team to victory lane. Other series entries with local ties
include Terry Fisher Jr. from Ossian, Jason Shively from Spencerville,
Tommy Cook Jr. from Ft. Wayne and Mike Kugler from Stroh who will be
making his first ever series start. Series top regulars Eddie Van
Meter, JR Roahrig, Bobby Parsley, Tommy St. John, Rick Turner, Jack
Landis and 2004 series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. will also be on hand.
2006 has seen another top class of
series rookies doing battle each week including current CD-2 Rookie Of
The Year points leader John Van Doorn, 2nd in points
Michael Gaier, 3rd place Sondi Eden, 4th place
Danny Jackson, all within 22 points of each other. So far this season
Gaier, Van Doorn and Jackson have all won CD-2 Rookie Of The Race
Awards. Don’t count out rookie Rich Segvich who sits in 5th
place so far, but has had the worse luck of all the rookies so far in
2006.
Joe Beaver leads the CRA Street
Stocks in points after three events in 2006. Beaver has finished third
in each event so far, but hopes to get into victory lane soon. Beau
Mitchell is currently in second place in points, five behind Beaver,
on the strength of two straight series wins, both at Winchester
Speedway. Rich Boyer, winner of the series season opener at Anderson
Speedway is third in points only eight behind Beaver. The CRA Street
Stocks have attracted great fields of cars to date averaging 42 cars a
show after three events.
The CRA Sportsman will be back in
action for the second time this season. Opening event winner Al Cook
Jr., a regular at Baer Field Speedway, currently leads the points by
only one over Keith Sterkowitz, who finished second in the season
opener. Zach Hulvey and Scott Hinshaw are tied for third with Joe
Beaver in fifth. Several Baer Field Speedway and Angola Motor Speedway
competitors are expected to compete in this division Sunday.
Pit gates open at 8am Sunday,
spectator gates at 10am. Practice will begin at 10am with qualifying
at 12noon. The CRA Super Sunday racing program will begin at 2pm. More
