Danny Jackson
Leads The CD-2 Rookie Of The Year Standings Heading Into Saturday’s
Anderson 250 Presented By Great Deals
Salem, IN (July 11, 2006) –
Loveland, Ohio’s Danny Jackson has now taken over the lead in the CD-2
Rookie Of The Year Standings after eight of 17 CRA Super Series points
events scheduled for the 2006 season. Two of the top contenders for
the CD-2 Rookie Of The Year recently withdrew their names from
contention for the award in order to try and compete for
the
award next season. John Van Doorn withdrew first after his team could
not secure sponsorship to compete in the remainder of the series 2006
events. Former points leader Michael Gaier withdrew last week after
his team was sidelined after a broken motor in the June 17th
event at IRP. Both Van Doorn and Gaier can compete in one additional
series point’s event during the 2006 season and still retain their
rookie eligibility for the 2007 season.
To date Jackson, the son of veteran
late model competitor Dave Jackson, has an adjusted points total of
462 points, each rookie contender gets to drop their worst two
finishes of the season. Roush Racing Development Driver Sondi Eden of
Crawfordsville, Indiana is currently in second with 428 adjusted
points. 16-year-old Alec Carll of Grand Rapids, Michigan is currently
third with 414 points while Michigan City, Indiana native Rich Segvich
is fourth with 384 points.
Jackson has won five CD-2 Rookie Of
The Race Awards for being the highest registered rookie finisher in
five of the series eight points events so far this season. Eden has
won two CD-2 Rookie Of The Race Awards while Carll has won one.
Jackson is currently 7th in overall series points while
Eden is 8th, they are the only rookie competitors currently
in the top ten in 2006 series points.
The pit gates will open for this
Saturday’s Anderson 250 Presented By Great Deals at 2pm. Practice for
the CRA Super Series will run from 5 to 6pm with qualifying at 6:45pm.
The race program will begin at 8pm and will include a 150 lap CRA
Street Stock feature event. More information on the event is available
