CRA Super Series
Ready For Big Double-Header Weekend
Salem, IN (July 26, 2006) –
The CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power is ready for a big
double-header weekend starting this Friday night at the famed
Kalamazoo Speedway located just North of Kalamazoo, Michigan. This
will be the third series event held at Kalamazoo Speedway, legendary
Michigan racer Fred Campbell won the first ever series event held
their in 2002.
Last season local favorite Andy
Ponstein took full advantage of starting on the pole to lead every lap
of the series event to get the win. The Jenison, Michigan native
jumped out to the lead when the green flag dropped and used his
numerous years of experience on the tough 3/8 mile oval to stay out
front. JR Roahrig set a new track record in qualifying and worked his
way from his fourth place starting position to get second, followed by
Jack Landis in third, Eddie Hoffman in fourth and Jeff Lane in fifth.
The state of Michigan will be well
represented in Friday night’s CRA 125 Presented By Boyne Machine and
Curtis Marketing including last year’s winner Andy Ponstein. Other
Michigan drivers expected to compete include Wyoming, Michigan native
Brian Campbell, son of the legendary Fred Campbell, Berlin winner Tim
Curry of Allegan, Kalamazoo native Jeff Bozell, early season rookie
competitors Coldwater’s Michael Gaier and Coopersville’s John Van
Doorn. Current CD-2 Rookie Of The Year competitor 16 year old Alec
Carll from Grand Rapids, Dowagiac’s Doug True, Comstock Park’s Greg
Usher, Hudsonville’s Terry Van Haitsma, Mt. Morris’s Johnny Belott,
West Olive’s Billy Shotko and Spring Lake’s Andrew Conklin.
On Saturday the CRA Super Series
teams will travel 90 miles south to New Paris Speedway located in New
Paris, Indiana. The Spray Power 125 Presented By Professional Drivers
Institute will be the first ever CRA Super Series event at the tough ¼
mile semi-banked oval. Local competitors expected to compete include
legendary late model racer Bobby Blount of Walkerton who has three
series victories to his credit. Mishawaka’s JR Roahrig, currently
third in CRA Super Series points and winner of the CRA Super Series
event held in June at Plymouth Speedway, CD-2 Rookie Of The Year
competitor Rich Segvich of Michigan City and New Paris Speedway
regular late model competitor Donny Klotz of Elkhart, who has also ran
in selected series events the past two seasons.
On Friday at Kalamazoo Speedway pits
open at 1pm, practice will be begin at 3pm, qualifying at 5:15pm with
the race program including the CRA 125 Presented By Boyne Machine and
Curtis Marketing beginning at 7pm.
On Saturday at New Paris Speedway
pits will open at 12noon, practice will begin at 2pm, qualifying at
5pm with the race program including the Spray Power 125 Presented By
Professional Drivers Institute beginning at 7pm.
