CRA Super Series
Set For Return To Angola Motor Speedway
Salem, IN (July 20, 2006) –
The CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power is set to return to the
Angola Motor Speedway with Saturday’s Hargus Mullins Memorial 125
Presented By EMF Corporation. For several years the series had been a
part of the racing schedule at Angola Motor Speedway
except
for the 2004 season when the track was closed while going through
several different renovation projects. When the CRA Super Series and
its fans returned last season they were treated to new front-stretch
grandstand seating, a new race control tower, new spectator concession
stands and restrooms, new track lighting and a renovated pit
concession area.
"Its great to be back at Angola Motor
Speedway again in 2006," remarked Glenn Luckett, Director of the CRA
Super Series. "Track owners Dick and Jackie Poe have really invested a
lot of time and money into improving their race track, everyone with
the CRA Super Series greatly appreciates there efforts in providing
the series a first class place to race. We really enjoy working with
Wes Parrish and all the great people at Angola Motor Speedway!"
Angola
Motor Speedway is the home track of 2000 CRA Super Series Champion
Scott Hantz and the Dick Poe Motorsports Team. Hantz has won three of
the series ten events at Angola Motor Speedway, the most of any series
winner. Legendary Central Indiana late model driver Bobby Blount is
second with two wins. There are five other drivers with one win
apiece.
One of the drivers with one win is
2005 CRA Super Series Drivers Points Champion Jeff Lane, who got his
win in last season’s Hargus Mullins Firecracker 125. Lane came from
tenth place early in the event to pass leader Bobby Parsley on lap 85
to get the lead, then held off Parsley to get the win. Eddie Hoffman
was third, Scott Hantz was fourth after making a late charge through
the field. Jack Landis rounded out the top five.
There
will be several teams and drivers competing with local ties other than
Hantz. Veteran series car owner Floyd Fehl from Ft. Wayne will field
two cars for Saturday’s event. Kenny Tweedy, a winner at Angola Motor
Speedway in 2003, will compete in Fehl’s #6 machine while CRA
Sportsman competitor Zach Hulvey of Ossian will make his series debut
in a second Fehl #61 car.
Jason Shively from Spencerville,
currently 10th in CRA Super Series points, is coming off a
good race at Anderson Speedway last Saturday were he got his first
Fast Qualifier award with the series. Young Terry Fisher Jr., from
Ossian, who has already become a veteran racer with the CRA Super
Series, is entered along with Mike Kugler of Stroh who looks to make
his second start with the series this season. 15-year-old Royce Mason
II of Ft. Wayne will try to make his first CRA Super Series show.
Former ASA Series regular Jack Landis of near by Edgerton, Ohio is
entered. Landis has also been a regular at Angola at different times
in his racing career.
Pit Gates will open this Saturday at
1pm, with CRA Super Series practice beginning at 3pm. CRA Super Series
qualifying is scheduled to begin at 5pm. The race program will begin
at 7pm and will include the Hargus Mullins Memorial 125 Presented By
EMF Corporation for the CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power as
well as racing from the Angola Motor Speedway local divisions. More
