CRA Street Stocks
Ready To Return To Action In Saturday’s Anderson 150
Salem, IN (July 12, 2006) –
After a month and a half layoff the CRA Street Stocks are ready to
return to action in this Saturday’s Anderson 150 at Anderson Speedway.
The CRA Street Stocks have not raced since the May 29th
event at Mt. Lawn Speedway, they were scheduled to compete at
Winchester
Speedway
on June 11th, but that event was postponed until August 27th
because of rain.
Current CRA Street Stock point’s
leader Joe Beaver leads a group of racers eager to return to action at
the same track that started off the 2006 season. The season opening
250-lap event at Anderson Speedway on April 8th was a show
case event that would give fans a preview of the great racing action
that the series has had at every event so far this season. Veteran
Anderson racers Rich Boyer and Rod Phipps battled until the checkered
flag was displayed giving Boyer the win by a mere .283 of a second
over Phipps. Joe Beaver started his streak of three straight third
place finishes in that event that saw a total of 40 racecars take the
green flag.
Beaver has used his strong finishes
of three third place finishes, one second and his win at Mt. Lawn
Speedway to take a 52 point lead in points heading into Saturday’s
event over Boyer. Brian Hopkins, the winner at Baer Field Speedway on
May 21st, is currently in third 67 points behind Beaver.
Chuck Cook is in fourth 86 points behind with Justin Trinkle in fifth
place 95 points behind. Beau Mitchell, the winner of the two events
held at Winchester Speedway this season, is currently in sixth place
96 points behind.
The Anderson 150 will feature 28
starters battling for 150 laps to claim the $1,200 first place money.
The field will be set through qualifications and a last chance race.
There will be no entry fees for CRA and Anderson Speedway members.
Saturday’s Anderson 150 will be part
of the new Anderson 400 that will also feature the CRA Super Series in
a 250-lap event. Pit gates open at 2pm, practice for the CRA Street
Stocks will begin at 6pm with qualifying at 7:15pm. The race program
will begin at 8pm. More information on the event is available at
www.andersonspeedway.com
