CRA Super Series
Officials Release 18-Event 2006 10th Anniversary Season
Schedule
Salem, IN (January 8, 2006) –
Officials of the CRA Super Series released their tentative schedule
for the upcoming 2006 season during their annual awards banquet held
this past weekend in Indianapolis. The 2006 season will be the Tenth
Anniversary Season for the Indiana based touring asphalt template late
model series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association and Presented
By Spray Power All Purpose, Multi Surface Cleaner. The current
schedule consists of eighteen total events, seventeen CRA Super Series
point’s events, and the All American 400 Weekend non-points event
sanctioned by the CRA Super Series at the Music City Motorplex in
Nashville, Tennessee.
As previously released the CRA Super
Series will open its 2006 season at the Music City Motorplex in
Nashville in a 150 lap special points event. The event will be a one
set of tires event, but competitors will be required to make one
mandatory pit stop sometime during the event. Since the event will
bring in several outside teams, the event will have some special point
provisions. The lowest amount of points any team will receive for
participating in the event will be 80. Teams will receive additional
points for qualifying in the top five or finishing in the top ten in
the event.
On April 15th the CRA
Super Series will race at Anderson Speedway, the site of the series
open the past nine years. That historic quarter mile Speedplant was
the birthplace of the series in 1997. From there the series will
travel to the legendary high banks of Winchester Speedway on Sunday,
April 23rd, were the series will be part of that tracks first event of
it’s 2006 season with the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series.
The series will then travel to Baer Field Speedway in Ft. Wayne,
Indiana on Sunday, May 21st. The series returns to Baer
Field Speedway after a one-year hiatus in 2005.
The next CRA Super Series event will
be on Saturday, May 27th of Memorial Day weekend at Berlin
Raceway, that event will be the only event at Berlin Raceway for the
CRA Super Series in 2006. The series travels to Ohio next for the 3rd
Annual Buckeye Bash at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 3rd.
The Saturday, June 17th event at
Indianapolis Raceway Park is next up, the CRA Super Series will team
up again with the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series for a short
track race fan’s dream Saturday night with 300 laps of stock car
racing between the two sanctioning bodies. The series will then visit
Schererville, Indiana for the Elmer Musgrave Memorial at Illiana Motor
Speedway on Saturday, June 24th.
The month of July will be the
toughest for the CRA Super Series in 2006 with five events beginning
with a return to Toledo Speedway on Sunday, July 2nd for
twin 100 lap feature events in conjunction with the Royal Glass City
Gold Cup ARCA Outlaw Late Model Series. The series will then head back
to Indiana for the revised traditional July event at Anderson
Speedway, which will be 250 laps in 2006 with one set of tires, and it
is another mandatory pit stop event. The series returns to the newly
remodeled Angola Motor Speedway owned by Dick and Jackie Poe on
Saturday, July 22nd. The series will then have a
double-header weekend beginning on Friday, July 28th at
Kalamazoo Speedway and then will travel an hour and a half south to
Northern Indiana for the series first ever event at Danny Klotz’s New
Paris Speedway on Saturday, July 29th.
On August 19th the series will
venture west for it’s only August event on Saturday, August 19th
at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Missouri for a 100 lap event in 2006
against the best racers in the Missouri and Kansas areas. The event
will pay an above average purse and travel money for CRA Super Series
regulars in points.
On Monday, September 4th
the series will return to Winchester Speedway, for the annual World
Stock Car Festival, an event that was a huge success in 2005. On
September 22nd and 23rd, Rockford Speedway will
host the revised 41st Annual National Short Track
Championships, with a 200-lap event for the CRA Super Series with one
set of tires, and another mandatory pit stop event.
On Sunday, October 15th
Winchester Speedway will bring back one of the most historic stock
cars race events in the country, the 35th Annual Winchester
400 with the CRA Super Series. This event was the most popular series
of stock car events ever held at Winchester Speedway. The ASA Series,
the former NASCAR All-Pro Series and the CRA Super Series have
sanctioned the event in the past, the CRA Super Series will pick up
the pieces and restart this legendary event again in 2006. The event
will be the season championship event for the series and will be the
only series point’s event with live tire changing and fuel pit stops.
The season ending event will be the
All American 400 Weekend at the Music City MotorPlex in Nashville,
Tennessee. Last year 70 teams showed up to try and win this
prestigious all star event, one of the best groups of late models ever
assembled for a late model event. The race was hailed by many as the
best short-track race they had seen in a long time. The 2006 addition
will be even bigger and better!
