Johnny Jenkins
Will Race With The CRA Super Series in 2006
Salem, IN (January 16, 2006) –
Team Travco Motorsports owner and driver Johnny Jenkins has announced
that he will compete full-time with the CRA Super Series Presented By
Spray Power
during
the 2006 race season. Jenkins will be competing for the CRA Super
Series Season Championship as well as for Rookie of the Year Honors.
Jenkins had originally planned to compete with the series in the
second half of the 2005 season, but a severely broken wrist kept
Jenkins from his 2005 racing plans.
"I had seen the CRA Super Series race
several times and really liked what I saw," remarked Jenkins. "I
really liked the group of competitors that race with the series and
the professionalism of the series officials. I am really looking
forward to getting back behind the wheel and competing for the series
championship and trying to become the series 2006 Rookie of the Year!"
The London, Ohio native is a former
Outlaw Late Model competitor at Columbus Motor Speedway. In 2004
Jenkins was the Columbus Motor Speedway NASCAR Rookie of the Year in
the Outlaw Late Model Division, finishing 10th in overall
points. In limited starts at Columbus Motor Speedway in 2005, Jenkins
had 5 top five finishes with 2 wins in the Outlaw Late Models. Jenkins
competed in drag racing before changing to oval racing. Jenkins had
drag raced at speeds over 200mph.
Jenkins will have Roland Johnson as
his Crew Chief, Matlock Hunt doing his tires, Mike Cline as a general
mechanic along with his wife Tammy and daughter Brittany lending a
hand at each event. Jenkins will compete in Howe Chassis’s with motors
from Tommy Todd Engines with help from Fast Racing Machine Work.
Jenkins number 12 Monte Carlo’s will carry sponsorship from his
company Travco Construction and Sterling Coach Restorations.
