Circle Bound
Racing & Purdue’s Opportunity Motorsports Host Open House
Circle Bound Racing of Brownsburg and
Purdue University’s Opportunity Motorsports will co-host an open house
on February 11 from 10 am to 1 pm Members of the motorsports industry
and the
general
public are invited view the facilities of Circle Bound Racing and meet
the members of the Opportunity Motorsports student organization.
Opportunity Motorsports was founded
by Purdue University mechanical engineering student and race car
driver Jonathan Hassler just over one year ago. The goal of the
program is to provide Purdue University students seeking a motorsports
related education the ability to become involved in both the business
and technical aspects of a small scale professional racing team. While
still in its infancy with the University, the OM program has been
embraced as a means to provide real world racing experience in the
Hoosier State. Indiana is recognized as a world-leader in motorsports,
however students interested in stock car racing have long been drawn
out of Indiana to the Charlotte, North Carolina area.
Students currently involved with the
program represent a variety of disciplines including Visual
Communications Design, Advertising and Public Relations,
Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Mechanical Engineering, and
Mechanical Engineering Technology.
For the 2006 racing season, the
Opportunity Motorsports program will partner with Circle Bound Racing
to field their stable of late model stock cars. Within this
partnership, Opportunity Motorsports members will play integral roles
in all aspects of the Circle Bound Racing operation. Circle Bound
Racing is owned by life-long racer Chet Blanton of Plainfield, Indiana
and is the factory team for Blanton’s ARC Racing Engines business. ARC
builds engines for a variety of applications, including dirt and
pavement late models, sprint cars, and hot rods.
The open house is open to the public
and will be held at the ARC Racing Engines/Circle Bound Racing
facility at 454 Johnson Lane in Brownsburg. For further information,
