Chuck Barnes Jr. To Start
His 2005 Race Season At Concord Motorsports Park
Louisville, KY (March 25,
2005) –
2004 CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. will begin his
2005 race season this weekend at Concord Motorsports
Park
in Concord, North Carolina. The Louisville, Kentucky native will be racing
in the first round of the Future Cellular Big Ten Series in a 125 Lap
Feature on Saturday night. Barnes expects some stiff competition
especially from veteran late model racer Freddy Query, who won six of the
ten Big Ten events last season.
"We decided to make the trip
to Concord to hopefully get some good exposure," remarked Barnes Jr. "I am
not going to run for points this season, I am going to race several CRA
Super Series events, but I am also going to run several high profile late
model shows in different parts of the country. I am looking forward to not
having to worry about points when I race this season, that way we can just
concentrate on winning."
Barnes still has aspirations
of racing at a higher level, and hopes to gain attention of car owners at
the next level by running in events against the best late model drivers in
the country. Barnes will have his work cut out at Concord Motorsports
Park, not only against perennial favorite Freddy Query but also 2003
NASCAR Elite Southeast Series Champion Charlie Bradberry, who is also
expected to make the trip from Alabama to compete at Concord this weekend.
Other local drivers expected to compete include veterans Eddie Massengill
and Terry Brooks Sr., both have numerous wins at tricky tri oval at
Concord Motorsports Park. Ted Musgrave Jr., Jimmy Simpson and Preston
Peltier are also top returning competitors to the Future Cellular Big Ten
Series.
