Competitor David Stremme Gets Full Time NASCAR Nextel Cup Ride For
2006
Salem, IN (June 22, 2005) –
Former CRA Super Series competitor David Stremme was
officially
introduced this past Sunday as the full time driver of the #40 NASCAR
Nextel Cup ride for the 2006 season. The Chip Ganassi owned team will
have a new look also in 2006 with split sponsorship from Lone Star
Steakhouse and Coors Light. Stremme will compete in four NASCAR Nextel
Cup events for the team during the remaining 2005 season while
continuing to compete for the NASCAR Busch Series Championship with
Fitz Bradshaw Racing in the #14 Navy sponsored car.
Stremme competed with the CRA Super
Series on a part-time basis during the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons.
During that time Stremme got one win on October 10, 1999 in a 100-lap
event at Salem Speedway. Stremme came close to getting two straight
wins two weeks late finishing second to Matt Hagans in a 250-lap event
at Salem Speedway. In all Stremme was Fast Qualifier at three CRA
Super Series events and was a former track record holder for the
series at Winchester Speedway, the sight of his first ever CRA Super
Series event on September 7th, 1998 when he was the events
Fast Qualifier and finished fourth. Stemme recorded 10 top five
finishes and 12 top ten finishes with the CRA Super Series.
Stremme
was the 2002 ASA Racing Series Rookie Of The Year in a season that saw
him get two wins, and signed as a development driver with Chip Ganassi
Racing. In 2003 Stremme was the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie Of The Year
while only competing in 18 of 34 events while splitting the ride with
fellow Ganassi protégé Jamie McMurray. Stremme became a full-time
competitor in the NASCAR Busch Series in 2004 with Braun Racing before
moving to the Fitz Bradshaw Racing
Team
late in the season.
The South Bend, Indiana native grew
up in a family of racers including his dad Lou and mom Cindy. Brother
Bobby also became a Championship winning driver last season with the
ASA Late Model Series. Bobby also made his CRA Super Series debut last
season in October at Baer Field Speedway and also competed in the All
American 300 in Nashville.
