Veteran Hahn Spins, Rookie Jackson Wins in Tyler County ARCA Trucks

MIDDLEBOURNE WV (6-11-05) – ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Paul Hahn made it exciting, but in the end, series rookie Danny Jackson made it a win.

Jackson, in AJ Pate’s #5 Red Bank Transport-Pate Manufacturing Chevy S-10, held his own to win the Bill Forbes Chevrolet 100 Saturday night on the Tyler County Speedway high-banked quarter-mile dirt. The victory represented Jackson’s career first triumph in only his third series start and Pate’s ninth win as a truck owner.

With less than two laps remaining, Hahn, in the family-owned #7 Hahn’s Collision-Fox Auto Parts Chevy Colorado, got underneath Jackson headed down the backstretch but spun out trying to take the lead. Hahn gathered it back up in time to finish second while Jackson, who never wavered, sped off under the checkered flag as the winner.

Former series champion Bill Withers finished third in his own Hall Electronics-Mannings USA Ford Ranger. Brad Yunker, in the Champion Credit Union-Laborers Local 574 Chevy, tied his career-best finish in fourth. Rookie Kyle Partridge finished a career-best fifth in his third series start.

With Pork Pole Qualifying rained out, the field was set by owner’s points. Defending series champion Brett Rowe led at the onset and immediately set sail with a half-lap lead while John Kasmierski, Jackson and Hahn waged war for second. With the aid of a handful of cautions, Kasmierski began challenging for the lead. Then Rowe’s spectacular run ended prematurely with rear-end failure on lap 53 of the 100-lap event. Kasmierski led up through lap 72 before his tie rod broke handing the lead to Jackson, who was next in line. However, Jackson was unable to shake Hahn who continually pressured the eventual winner before Hahn looped it with the white flag looming.

Hahn, who padded his point lead with his runner-up run, also picked up the Ed & Company Hard Charger honors for advancing the most positions.

Stan Maitlen, Jerry Churchill, Craig Meyers, Kasmierski and Mark Otting completed the top-10 finishers respectively.

The next event for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be at the series’ home track at Toledo Speedway on Friday night, June 24.
