Boris Jurkovic Leads FLF
Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year Standings Halfway Through
The 2005 Season
Salem, IN (July 13, 2005) –
Joliet, Illinois native Boris Jurkovic leads the FLF Racecars/Cometic
Gasket Rookie Of The Year standings after nine of eighteen CRA Super
Series Presented By Spray Power point’s events on the 2005 schedule.
Jurkovic’s adjusted point total currently stands at 599 points in
counting the best seven of his nine events raced so far this season,
each registered rookie gets to drop their to worst two finishes during
the season.
Jurkovic has claimed five Cometic
Gasket Rookie Of The Race Awards in building his lead. Jurkovic also
claimed his first series victory with a win in the second event of the
season at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, getting the win over fellow
Chicagoland racing rival Eddie Hoffman. Jurkovic has a second place
finish at Indianapolis Raceway Park behind winner Scott Hantz as well
as a third place finish at Toledo Speedway behind winner Johnny Belott
and second place Eddie Van Meter. Jurkovic also has three DNF’s so far
this season, one at Winchester Speedway after being involved in a hard
crash, one at Berlin Raceway with ignition problems, and one at the
July 2 event at Angola Motor Speedway with front-end damage after an
on track incident.
Jurkovic’s closer competitor at the
halfway point of the season is Tommy St. John from Indianapolis,
Indiana driving the Keller Motorsports entry. St. John is currently 69
points behind Jurkovic in the adjusted rookie of the year standings.
St. John has been the Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Race Award winner
at two series events this season, once at Winchester Speedway and the
other on July 2 at Angola Motor Speedway. St. John has two top ten
finishes this season, a seventh place finish at Indianapolis Raceway
Park and a ninth place finish at Berlin Raceway. St. John missed the
Columbus Motor Speedway event because of engine problems.
Independence, Missouri teenager Billy
Crane is currently in third in the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie
Of The Year standings with 470 points. Crane has continued to show
improvement on the track through out the season. Crane, by far is the
leased experienced racecar driver of the top rookie candidates
competing with the series in 2005. Cranes best finish of the season so
far has been a thirteenth place finish at Winchester Speedway. Crane
has only failed to finish two events so far in the 2005 season.
Jason Shively is currently fourth in
the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year standings with 420
points. Jeff Bland Jr. is fifth with 296 points followed by Jason
Setser with 258 points. Setser has been the Cometic Gasket Rookie Of
The Race Award winner at two events this season including the season
opener at Anderson Speedway and at Berlin Raceway were he finished
second and was the events fast qualifier.
John Nutley is currently seventh in
the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year standings with 242
points while Patrick Lawson is eighth with 214 points. The battle for
