From Keller Motorsports
Bicycle Clay Poker Chips - Menards 125
Race Preview @ Kalamazoo Speedway Tommy St. John and
#29 Tri-Axle Trucking Chevrolet
Indianapolis, IN (July 26, 2005) – Tommy St. John and the
Keller Motorsports Racing team are looking to extend their two
consecutive Rookie of the Race awards this weekend as CRA Super Series
rolls into Kalamazoo Speedway for the Bicycle Clay Poker Chips –
Menards 125 on Sunday, July 31. The 3/8 mile egg-shaped oval
can offer trouble to newcomers who have to search for the fastest way
around the track. Additionally, many local drivers will be competing
trying to steal a win from the touring regulars. This will be the
first visit for St. John and Keller Motorsports to the extremely
popular Michigan track.
Pre-race talk with Tommy St. John, driver of the No. 29 Tri-Axle
Trucking Chevrolet:
Kalamazoo is another new track for you. What are your thoughts
going into Sunday’s race?
"I am looking forward to it. I have never seen the track before so
it will be tough. My dad has made a few calls about the setup so we
know we should be at least close. We just need to get the car to turn
in the corner and we will be okay. My dad has been working hard it out
and we are trying some new things this weekend so we will see."
Looking back at the Anderson 400, you had a top-10 finish in the
longest race of the year. Tell us about the race?
"I wish it was 600 laps! Cars started falling out like flies at the
end and we just kept moving up. I wasn’t as tired as I thought I would
be. I felt pretty good after the race. We battled a tight car all
night which is the same problem we have been having for a few races. I
tried to run the high-line but the car was too tight. Overall, I am
extremely happy with the race and thankful for the crew that came out
and helped."
You gained more points in
the Rookie of the Year Championships, could Kalamazoo be three in a
row
for the Rookie of the Race
award?
"I know we can win the
Rookie Championship. We just need to continue to run good and finish.
If we do that
at Kalamazoo, we could win
the award again"
