Chuck Barnes Jr. To Make Second Start At
Concord Motorsports Park
Louisville, KY (April 26, 2005) –
Chuck Barnes Jr. will make his second start at Concord Motorsports
Park in Concord, North Carolina in this weekends Future Cellular Big
10 125 lap event. The Louisville, Kentucky native finished second in
the first Future Cellular Big 10 show on March 26th to
Dennis Schoenfeld, in his first ever event at the challenging
tri-oval.
“We didn’t have a very good car last
time,” remarked Barnes, “I just basically road around and stayed out
of trouble. We didn’t have any thing for Schoenfeld, he was the
dominant car that day. We decided to go back and see if we could do a
little better with what we learned last time.”
Barnes still has aspirations of racing
at a higher level, and hopes to the gain attention of car owners at
the next level by running in high profile events such as the Future
Cellular Big 10 events at Concord. Barnes finished second in this past
Sunday’s late model event at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana. The
event was run in conjunction with an ARCA RE/Max Series event. Barnes
helped out on NASCAR racer Ken Schrader’s pit crew during the ARCA
RE/Max Series event.
Barnes is also the Crew Chief this
season for part-time CRA Super Series competitor Greg Boone, who will
be competing in selected series events during the season. He competed
in the CRA Super Series season opener at Anderson Speedway on April 16th,
but had his day end early after contact with another car damaged his
radiator and caused the car to overheat.
Barnes will have his work cut out at
Concord Motorsports Park, not only against Schoenfeld but also
perennial favorite Freddy Query, who’s day ended early at the last
event after a spin and contact with the wall.
Eddie Massengill
Jr. will try to better his 3rd place finish on March 26th
along with Big Ten regulars Ted Musgrave Jr., Jimmy Simpson and Chris
Dunn.
