Sunoco Super Series Champions To Be In Action At Indianapolis Raceway Park
This Sunday

Indiana race fans will be treated to a rare occasion this Sunday’s
Hooters
Pro Cup Series and Sunoco Super Series combined event at Indianapolis
Raceway Park. All six Sunoco Super Series Champions, since the series
began in 1997, will be in action on the .686 challenging oval that has
been on the Sunoco Super Series schedule since the series first season.
Brian Ross, the only two time Sunoco Super Series Champion in 1999 and
2001, is currently competing in his third season with the Hooters Pro Cup
Series. Ross was the Hooters Pro Cup Series 2002 Rookie Of The Year and
scored seven series wins in his first two seasons. Ross has a Sunoco Super
Series record of four
wins
at Indianapolis Raceway Park and was the winner of the last Hooters Pro
Cup event held there in 2002. Ross is also the Sunoco Super Series all
time winner with twenty-two victories to his credit.
Also competing in this
Sunday’s Hooters Pro Cup Series Naturally Fresh 200 Presented By Lucas Oil
Products will be 2002 Sunoco Super Series Champion Joel Kauffman.
Kauffman, the 2001 Sunoco Super Series Rookie Of the Year, is competing in
his second season with the Hooters Pro Cup Series, he was the Hooters Pro
Cup Series Northern Division 2003 Rookie Of The Year. Kauffman
recently
moved his entire racing operation to Mooresville, North Carolina, which is
now under the watchful eye of veteran Crew Chief Tim Kohuth. After two
events in 2004 Kauffman is currently 5th in Hooters Pro Cup
Series Northern Division points with Ross in 10th position.
2003 Sunoco Super Series
Champion Bobby Parsley leads the
contingent
of Sunoco Super Series Champions that will compete in the Sunoco Super
Series Steve Keller Tri-Axle Trucking 100 on Sunday. 1997 Champion Kenny
Tweedy will be in action, Tweedy has one Sunoco Super Series victory at
Indianapolis Raceway Park. 1998 Champion Brian Rievley is trying to get
his first ever Sunoco Super Series victory
at
Indianapolis Raceway Park while 2000 Sunoco Super Series Champion and
Rookie Of the Year Scott Hantz tries for his second. After one series
event Parsley is currently 3rd in series points, Hantz is 12th,
Rievley is 13th and Tweedy is 15th.
Three other Hooters Pro Cup
Series drivers competing in Sunday’s events have competed with the Sunoco
Super Series including former ASA Racing Series Champion Gary St.Amant.
St.Amant is currently in
second
place in series points trailing leader Johnny Rumley by 25 points. Former
Sunoco Super Series competitors Glenn Gault and Greg Van Alst will also be
in action. Gault is currently 9th in points while Van Alst in
19th.
Gates open Sunday at 11AM,
with an Autograph Session scheduled at 12:15PM. The Hooters Pro Cup Series
Northern Division Naturally Fresh 200 Presented By Lucas Oil Products will
take the green flag at 1:30PM to be followed by the Sunoco Super Series
Steve Keller Tri-Axle Trucking 100, immediately following winner circle
