Hanley and Tweedy Lead Lefthander Challenge After Three Series Events

Veteran Sunoco Super Series drivers Junior Hanley and Kenny Tweedy are
tied for the lead in the Lefthander Challenge
sponsored
by Lefthander Chassis after three series point’s events so far this
season. Hanley is second in career Sunoco Super Series wins with 17 while
Tweedy is the series career leader in Corteco Fast Qualifier Awards with
11 and top ten finishes with 56. This is the seventh consecutive year that
Lefthander Chassis has sponsored the award with the Sunoco Super Series.
The Lefthander Challenge
awards a Bare Offset Lefthander Chassis to the Sunoco Super Series driver
who is in the top fifteen in final series Owner Points that advanced the
most positions in series point events during the 2004 season. So far both
Hanley and Tweedy have advanced 27 positions after events at Anderson
Speedway on April 17th, Indianapolis Raceway Park on May 16th,
and this past Saturday’s event at Shadybowl Speedway. Jeff Lane, winner of
the series season opener at Anderson Speedway, is in third position with
23 positions gained. Current Backstretch Performance/Blake
Carburetion/Reed Cams Rookie point’s leader Frank Kreyer is in fourth with
18 positions gained followed by Eddie Van Meter in fifth with 16 positions
gained.
Prior winners of the
Lefthander Challenge include two-time Sunoco Super Series Champion Brian
Ross, a two-time award winner also in 1998 and 1999. 2000 Series Champion
and 2000 Rookie Of The Year Scott Hantz in 2000. Jim Crabtree Jr. won the
award winner in 2001. Tim Phillips, runner up for the Rookie Of the Year
honors in 2002, won the award in 2002. In 2003, Mt. Morris, Michigan’s
Bobby Murany won the award driving for veteran Michigan car owner Brian
Robertson.
