Front
Overhang Body Measurement Revised
Phase-In Year of ABC Body Requires
Adjustment
Salem, IN (March 23, 2004)
–
Following a meeting with technical officials of the Sunoco Super Series
and discussions with teams and other industry leaders, Series officials
announced that the front overhang measurement of the pre-ABC bodies has
been adjusted. There will be no weight break for a 45" front overhang and
all cars can be 46", the same as the new ABC body is.
"We knew we would have to make a few
adjustments along the way," stated Sunoco Super Series managing partner R.
J. Scott. "It’s all just part of the growing process with the new ABC body
program. From a tech enforcement standpoint, we were getting where there
were too many weight variances. So we eliminated one, but gave the old
bodies the same advantage of the new. It really seems to be a mute point
because so many of the teams have already switched to the new bodies, but
we still wanted the teams with the old bodies to have the same front
overhang as the new bodies in 2004."
The Sunoco Super Series teams have
two open practices before the season opener at Anderson Speedway on April
17th. For more information on the Series interested parties can
