Wayne and Nancy Moeckel of
Victory Chapel Ministries Spearheading 2nd Visitation Effort of the Year
Grand Rapids, MI (June
16, 2004) -
For the second time in the 2004 season, Sunoco Super
Series drivers will be meeting with children in a local
hospital
prior to their race. Series drivers Eddie Van Meter along with Fred and
Brian Campbell are expected to meet with the children, sign autographs,
and pass out some fun racing memorabilia during their Friday afternoon
visit to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.
The organizers of the visit
are Wayne and Nancy Moeckel of Victory Chapel Ministries. The couple
travels with the Sunoco Super Series, providing spiritual leadership and
friendship to the drivers, officials and fans of the Series.
The Moeckel’s spearheaded
the last visit to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis on behalf of
the series. According to Wayne Moeckel, "This has always been an
enlightening time, and each kid is a new experience. We lit up their lives
at Riley and look forward to doing the same during our visit to DeVos
Children’s Hospital."
For the drivers, it was an
easy invitation to say yes to; especially for Van Meter who will making
his second hospital visit of the year. The racing veteran has almost 70
career starts with the series. Making their first hospital visits on
behalf of the series are the father and son driving combination of Fred
and Brian Campbell. Both are successful drivers in local racing as well as
making their mark part time with the Sunoco Super Series. Fred has
recorded 4 victories while Brian will be making his 10th career
start. The Campbells will also be displaying a car for the children who
can come down and see it.
According to the elder
Campbell, "I’m really looking forward to this visit and meeting a lot of
special kids and their families at DeVos Children’s Hospital. I’m
fortunate to get to enjoy racing the way I do, and am really happy to
share my experiences with this special group of kids."
The hospital visit precedes
the drivers racing with the Sunoco Super Series this Saturday night in the
Performance Engineering 150 at Berlin Raceway, just northwest of Grand
Rapids. For more information about Berlin Raceway visit
