Kansas
City Native Joe Ross To Race With The Sunoco Super Series in 2004
Salem, IN (January 14, 2004) –
Kansas City,
Missouri native Joe Ross will make the long haul from his Midwest home to
compete in several Sunoco Super Series events in 2004. Ross competed with
the series in seven events in 1999, four events at Anderson Speedway, one
event at Salem Speedway, one event at Baer Field Speedway and one event at
Angola Motor Speedway with a best finish of 8th at Anderson
Speedway on June 12th, 1999.
"We really looked forward to racing with the
Sunoco Super Series again during the 2004 season," remarked Ross. "We have
missed racing with the Sunoco Super Series, but we wanted to be
competitive when we came back. In 1999 I ran a Steel Headed Motor with the
required, at that time, 390 Carburetor that just really put us way down on
horsepower compared to everyone else. We will be more competitive this
time around now that we can run a 750 Carburetor on our Steel Headed Motor
and we just purchased a 9 to 1 motor from A.P. Racing Engines that will
hopefully help bring us to the front!"
Ross plans on racing in about 75 % of the Sunoco
Super Series and Super Tour shows in 2004 with sponsorship from Vance
Motorsports.
"The series gets to come race in my part of the
country with the Super Tour event at I-70 Speedway. I have raced there off
and on in the past including three events last season. I think making the
World Cup a Super Tour event was a great move by the management of I-70
Speedway!"
Ross plans to also compete with the United States
Late Model Association again in 2004, in 2003 Ross got one win in
Colorado, a second in Albuquerque and finished third in overall points.
Ross will also run selected events at I-70 Speedway.
