Salem, IN (December 11, 2004) – Toledo Speedway and CRA Super Series officials have announced that the CRA Super Series will again be a part of the Twin 100’s Memorial Day Weekend event at the famed Toledo Speedway in 2005. The event is set to take place on the ½ mile banked oval on Sunday, May 29^th. The CRA Super Series will have a 100-lap event and will be companioned with a 100-lap Main Event Series Outlaw Super Late Model event. The rain date for the event will be on Monday afternoon, May 30th.

"We are very excited about returning to Toledo Speedway again in 2005 and having the Main Event Series racing with us," remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner of the CRA Super Series. "It is a great format that offers fans the opportunity to see the best of both types of late model racing compete on the same night. Just as it has in the past this event will have several drivers that will compete in both divisions. Needless to say, as usual it will be a very exciting night of racing at Toledo Speedway!"

The CRA Super Series has now had six events at Toledo Speedway since August 4^th, 2000 when Harold Fair Jr. won his first ever CRA Super Series event. Canadian racing legend Junior Hanley has had the most success at Toledo Speedway with the CRA Super Series, capturing one win in 2001 and one win in 2002. Joel Kauffman won his first ever CRA Super Series event in May of 2002 at Toledo Speedway on his way to winning the 2002 CRA Super Series Championship. Veteran Michigan driver Fred Campbell cruised to victory at the CRA Super Series event at Toledo Speedway in 2003, taking over the lead from Jeff Lane on lap 24 to get the win.

Last years event had to be rescheduled to Sunday, August 1 after inclement weather forced a cancellation of the event on Memorial Day weekend. The event was one of the most exciting CRA Super Series events of the season. Jeff Lane and Scott Hantz ran neck and neck for much of the Sunoco 100 with Hantz leading from lap 12 to 70. Then Lane made a huge move on the high side getting around Hantz, Hantz then passed Lane on the low side on lap 86 with Lane retaking the lead on the high side on lap 88.  With a restart on lap 89 after a caution, it looked to be shoot out to the end, when Hantz had his water pump belt come off, which caused his motor to overheat bringing out the yellow due to Hantz’s motor pumping out excessive water on the track. Lane then out ran 2004 CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. to get the win, his second of three wins with the CRA Super Series in 2004. Scott Baker finished third, with Chris Gabehart fourth, and Bull Baker fifth. Hantz would come back and post an impressive win in the Main Event Series event later that night.

Toledo Speedway’s resurgence as one of the premier short tracks in the Midwest continues under the guidance of ARCA President Ron Drager and Detroit-area businessman Roy Mott who purchased the track in January of 1999. Toledo Speedway has had a numerous improvements with the new ownership including a new pit road inside the track and a large paved back pit area with a very racer friendly tech building, restrooms and concession area. The track also features a new race control tower and suites above the grandstands, as well as a new back pit area grandstand.
