Speed51.com Starts SSS Most Popular Driver Award
Fan Voting Will Decide This Important Post-Season Award
CONCORD, NC (July 28, 2004) - The Sunoco Super Series
and the Short Track Racing website Speed51.com have formed a partnership
for the 2004 season.
Speed51.com will host the SSS Most Popular Driver award on its website and
provide the winner with a new website design.
"It's great to get involved with the Sunoco Super Series. I have been a
big fan
since the series was called by a different name," said Speed51.com editor
Bob Dillner. "It visits most of the major short tracks in the Midwest and
it has quite a fan following. We can see that on our Speed 51 message
board forums. To be able to include those fans into what we are doing and
have them determine the winner of a major post-season award will be big."
"SSS has some really talented drivers. There are some legendary short
trackers like Junior Hanley along with some rising stars who we will see
in the higher levels of stock car racing over the next few seasons. It
will be very interesting to see who the fans like when they cast their
votes for this award."
The winner, who will receive a new web design (51 now designs sites for
everyone from Nextel Cup competitors Jamie McMurray and Scott Wimmer to
short track teams around the nation), will be announced at the year-end
Sunoco Super Series championship awards banquet. The total prize is valued
at $5,000. Voting will take place from the Speed51.com website and will
continue through November 1st. Drivers who attempt to qualify for 15 of
the 20 events will be eligible for the award. You can also visit a link on
sunocosuperseries.com that will bring you directly to Speed51.com.
"The Sunoco Super Series is one of the core forms of
racing that we cover at Speed 51," explained Bob Dillner, who is also a
NASCAR commentator and ARCA "play-by-play" announcer on SPEED Channel. "I
try and get out to as many races as I can during the season along with
Jeremy Troiano and Matthew Dillner. We will bring fans the
behind-the-scenes stories of short track racing. In fact, Jeremy is headed
to Toledo, OH, for this weekend’s Sunoco Super Series race."
Speed51.com will be filing its unique race stories and
features on SSS racing. Speed51.com has also become the "official message
board" for SSS fans to comment on things happening in the series.
Speed51.com has become a leader in online Motorsports
information by focusing on the short track racing realm. 51 realized
nearly three years ago that there was a void in the industry for this type
of news and behind-the-scenes stories. Now, 51 is viewed by thousands of
viewers per day. Thanks to supporters such as LA West Luxury Vehicles,
Five Star Race Car Bodies, Oakley, CITGO / MDA and Howe Racing
Enterprises, Speed51 fuels your Short Track appetite for ARCA, ASA,
NASCAR's Grand National and Elite Divisions, Featherlite Modifieds, USAR
Pro Cup, Southern All Stars, Sunoco Super Series, Super Late Models and
other racing throughout the spring, summer and fall.
