I-70’s World Cup 300 Getting
Stronger Each Day
New Bonuses Being Added to
CRA/SSS and SAS Co-Sanctioned Event, Winner to Be Guaranteed Spot in
All-American Race in Nashville
Odessa, MO (August 10,
2004) –
Officials from World Cup 300 sanctioning bodies, the CRA/
Sunoco Super Series and O’Reilly Southern All Stars, recently announced
the addition of exciting bonus plans to the already rich event at I-70
Speedway. The race is scheduled for Saturday night, October 9. This is
also the weekend of the Winston Cup event at Kansas Speedway, only 45
minutes away. Race fans will be able to catch the Busch race Saturday
during the day, the World Cup 300 at night at I-70 Speedway, and return to
Kansas Speedway the next day for the Winston Cup race. Officials expect a
large number of campers at the short track for this exciting weekend.
For the drivers, five
different bonus categories have been added to the purse. The top five
finishing drivers from each, Sunoco Super Series and Southern All-Stars,
will receive the following bonuses: $1000-$600-$400-$300-$200. The top two
finishing drivers from each, MARS and ROMCO, will receive bonuses of
$1000-$500. Finally the top four finishing I-70 regulars will be competing
for bonuses of $750-$400-$200-$150. These bonuses are on top of the purse
which is highlighted by $10,000 to win and $1000 to start.
Besides taking home the top
prize and accolades of the World Cup 300, the winner will also be
guaranteed a starting spot in the prestigious All-American race in
Nashville on November 7th.
Besides interest from these
groups with bonuses, calls have also been coming in from some of the top
names in ASA competition and some of the top drivers in the West. "Things
are really starting to heat-up for the World Cup 300," noted I-70 promoter
Brad McDonald. "The fans are all talking about it and we can tell the
racers are looking forward to it too. It’s a lot of fun to answer the
phone these days."
Through the years, the World
Cup 300 was heralded as one of the premier late model races in the
country. Some of the top names in motorsports have been a part of the
event, including NASCAR Stars Rusty Wallace and Mark Martin, ASA Stars
Dick Trickle, Mike Garvey, Mike Eddy and 2003 Champion Kevin Cywinski,
plus local heroes John O’Neil, 2003 Track Champion Jeff Klem and the 2003
World Cup winner Jenny White.
I-70 Speedway has long been
heralded as one of the most exciting tracks in the country. Besides the
World Cup 300, the lightning fast, high-banked ˝ mile track has hosted top
special events through the years, including stops for ASA and the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series. The Speedway is also enjoying one of its best
summers in recent years.
