Salem, IN (April 8, 2004) – Bobby Parsley’s 2003 Sunoco Super Series race season was one of destiny from the start to the finish. Parsley had never won a Sunoco Super Series event until the 2003 season opener at Anderson Speedway. Parsley got that win by passing Jack Landis on lap 85 and holding off Scott Hantz to get the victory, a sign of what Hantz and the other series contenders were going to have to deal with all season long. In all the Shepherdsville, Kentucky native recorded 10 top fives, 13 top tens, with only one DNF in the 17 Sunoco Super Series point’s events in 2003.

Parsley won two more series events after the season opener, and he couldn’t have asked for two bigger victories. Parsley held off his mentor Junior Hanley to win the prestigious Anderson 400, a win that boosted Parsley’s confidence for a great second half of the season. Winning the Car Brite 400 at Winchester Speedway, the series season championship event, completed Parsley’s storybook ending to his 2003 Sunoco Super Series Championship season. In that event Parsley fought off adversity, not settling to just "ride" to a championship, Parsley came from a lap down twice to pass Scott Hantz on lap 332 to take the lead for good, going on to claim the victory and the season championship in way that dreams are made of.

"It was a great season and a great way to win the Sunoco Super Series Championship," remarked Parsley. "I was just a small part of it, my parents have pretty much dedicated their lives to my racing, if it wasn’t for them I would never had had the opportunity to race anything. I also had some great help from my Crew Chief Jeff Martin, we have been friends for a long time, with out his dedication and work we wouldn’t have won. I also have to thank Junior Hanley and Bill Rievley, they have helped me learn a lot over the past several seasons, without their guidance I wouldn’t have been able to get a win, much less a championship!"

Parsley now sets his site on a new goal, to become the first Sunoco Super Series driver to win two consecutive championships. Former Sunoco Super Series competitor Brian Ross is the only driver to win two championships, but he had a year in between his championships, which he won in 1999 and 2001.

"We’ll go to Anderson next week and hope we can start the season with a victory again. We’ll have to have a good season with a lot of luck to be in a position to run the entire season and win the championship again. Spray Power All Purpose Cleaner is coming back on board as a sponsor for this season, with out there help last year, we couldn’t have afforded to run the entire season."

In addition to the Sunoco Super Series events he’ll race this year, Parsley will try some Outlaw Late Model events in a car he built with Junior Hanley’s help during the off-season. Parsley plans to debut his Outlaw Late Model at Toledo Speedway at the Sunoco Super Series and Main Event Series double header on May 30^th.

The Sunoco Super Series 2004 season will begin on Saturday, April 17^th at Anderson Speedway in the Anderson 150 Presented By Great Deals Coupon Magazine. Pit gates open at 1PM. Practice is at 5PM, with qualifying at 6:45PM. The racing action at Anderson Speedway that evening will start at 8PM.
