Former Sunoco Super Series veteran competitor Matt Hagans will make his 2004 ARCA RE/Max Series debut this weekend in the
Kentuckiana
Ford
Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana.
Hagans
is no stranger to the storied High-Banks of Salem Speedway having logged
hundreds and hundreds of laps at the renowned, storied, historic oval.
Hagans, of Indianapolis, Indiana, procured his page in the Salem record
books through late models with 3 victories overall, one of which was with
the Sunoco Super Series. With this experience and the well-prepared
equipment Hagans is capable of bringing, it's a safe bet to say he'll be a
contender come Sunday.
"It
would be an honor for me to win my first ARCA RE/MAX Series race at
Salem," said Hagans. "A lot of things have to fall our way for this to
happen, but I have thought about it for sure. We had a real good test
there last week, and I'm confident with our package. Now with some luck,
we feel like we can run with Frank (Kimmel) and all the rest. It'll be
interesting for sure.
"I
really enjoy this track and it helps that I have a lot of laps around
here. We'll have our hands full, but if we get the right set up under the
car and hit on things just right, I think we'll be someone to reckon with
Sunday."
Hagans, owner of
Eagle Creek Aviation, has just 8 career series starts since 2002. Among 3
top-5 and 5 top-10 finishes, his career-best finish is an impressive 3rd
at Kentucky Speedway in 03. He also finished 4th at Michigan Intl
Speedway in 03 and 5th in his career-first start at Salem in '02. His
career-best qualifying runs are outside pole at Kentucky 03 and 6th at
Salem 03.
Hagans had total
of 4 wins and 8 poles while competing with the Sunoco Super Series for
several seasons.
