Sunoco Super Series Points Become Important
for Patriot 200
Five Cash
Bonuses and Four Points-Based Starting Positions on the Line for Nashville
Event
Salem, IN (July 30)–
Although the Patriot 200
at the Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville isn’t until October 18th,
Sunoco Super Series teams are already feeling the importance of the event
in early August. While the teams are racing all season for top positions
in the Championship Standings, they are also racing to put themselves in a
better position for the Patriot 200.
The top five finishers at the season ending event in
Nashville, from the top 40 in CRA/Sunoco Super Series points, will receive
bonuses of $1000, $750, $500, $300, and $200, respectively. These awards
are in addition to awards they earn from the position purse.
Also on the line for the Sunoco Super Series teams
are four provisional starting spots based on Sunoco Super Series points.
After qualifying sets the top 24 starters, the next four Sunoco Super
Series teams in the final point standing will be locked in as well.
Depending on how many Sunoco Super Series teams get locked in through
qualifying, the next four teams that get locked in may come from deep
within the point standings.
The Patriot 200 is a prestigious late model event
sanctioned by the Sunoco Super Series and the O’Reilly Southern
All-Stars. It will pit the top drivers from all over the country against
each other in a battle for one of the top jewels in all of short track
racing. The winner of the Patriot 200 will receive an all-expense-paid
ride in the following day’s 300 lap American Speed Association event that
will be broadcast live on Speed Channel. Highlights from the Patriot 200
will also be shown on that broadcast.
An accommodating and equalizing set of rules have been established for the
Patriot 200 and were announced last week.
