Two Sunoco Super Series teams have
come forward to supply rides for NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers
Kenny
Schrader and Kenny Wallace in the September 7th Federated Auto
Parts Buckeye Bash Presented By K95.5 at Columbus Motor Speedway. Kenny
Schrader will drive a car provided by Ponstein Racing, he will be a
teammate of 2002 Sunoco Super Series Rookie Of The Year Andy Ponstein.
Kenny Wallace will driver the primary car of Sunoco Super Series veteran
racer Bull Baker.
Ponstein and Schrader have gotten to know each other this season through
Ponstein’s ARCA RE/Max Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team owner
John Bailey, who has been friends with Schrader for several years.
“ I offered one of my cars to Kenny Schrader for the Columbus race when we
tested together at Toledo Speedway prior to the ARCA RE/Max Series race
there in May,” remarked Andy Ponstein. “I’ve always respected Schrader for
all the racing he does besides his full-time NASCAR Winston Cup ride, I
think its great we can be teammates for that event. Wouldn’t it be neat if
him and I are battling for the win coming to the checkers!”
Ponstein has already entered his number 00 Nylan Body Shop Ford for the
Sunoco Super Series Federated Auto Parts 150 Presented By K95.5, as is
Schrader’s number 99 Federated Auto Parts Pontiac. Ponstein has been
racing part-time with the Sunoco Super Series this season. Ponstein has
made selected starts with the ARCA Re/Max Series and made his first NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series debut earlier this month at Indianapolis Raceway
Park.
Sunoco Super Series veteran car owner and driver Bull Baker offered the
services of his primary Sunoco Super Series car for Wallace last week.
Baker is currently 8th in series 2003 owner’s points. Baker has
five career wins with the Sunoco Super Series including a win at the
prestigious Anderson 400 in 2001.
“I’m really excited about having Kenny Wallace drive my car in the Buckeye
Bash at Columbus,” remarked Baker. “We have struggled this season on the
flat tracks, so I looked at this as an opportunity to possibly improve our
race program with what we can learn from having Wallace drive the car at
Columbus. My Crew Chief Tim Neal, my brother Tim, myself and the rest of
our team will be working to put Kenny Wallace in victory lane on Sunday,
September 7th!”
Sizzle Marine located in Columbus, Ohio, will be the primary sponsor of
Kenny Wallace’s number 78 Chevrolet in the Federated Auto Parts 150
Presented By K95.5. Bull Baker’s regular sponsors Car Brite, Stoops
Automotive Group and Cooper Tire have generously agreed to be associate
sponsors of the car for the Columbus event.
