6th Annual
International Gold Cup 100 This Thursday At Baer Field Speedway
Salem, IN (August 5,
2003) – The Sunoco Super Series
will make its annual stop at Baer Field Speedway for the 6th
Annual International Gold Cup 100 this Thursday night, August 7th in Ft.
Wayne, Indiana. This event, that has been sponsored by International Truck
& Engine Corporation since it’s inception in 1998, and has always provided
the fans with a full night of entertainment. Thursday nights line-up
includes the 6th Annual International Gold Cup 100 sanctioned
by the Sunoco Super Series, the first ever International Gold Cup Modified
Invitational using the USA Modified Series rules, the International Truck
display and parade featuring the International Kraft Food Monster Truck,
and capping off the evenings events will be the traditional International
Gigantic Aerial Fireworks display.
South Bend,
Indiana’s JR Roahrig winner of the 5th Annual Gold Cup 100 last
year, heads a stellar list of entries for the this years event. Roahrig is
hoping to get his first win of the 2003 season this Thursday night. Fred
Campbell, winner of the first International Gold Cup 100 in 1998 and a
winner with the Sunoco Super Series at Toledo Speedway on July 20th
has filed an entry. Junior Hanley, racing for hometown legend Larry Zent,
is entered along with several other racers from the Ft. Wayne area
including two time series winner in 2003, Pleasant Lake’s Scott Hantz,
Ossian natives Terry Fisher and Terry Fisher Jr., Decator’s Scott Wolfe,
and Ft. Wayne’s own Ron Dantzer.
Former ASA Racing
Series veteran Jack Landis will be racing Thursday, and will be bringing a
team car for fellow Edgerton, Ohio native Bud Perry. Anderson 400 winner
Bobby Parsley, Shady Bowl Speedway and Mt. Lawn Speedway winner Jeff Lane,
Mansfield Motorsports Speedway winner Brian Rievley and Shady Bowl
Speedway track record breaker Rick Turner lead a strong group of Sunoco
Super Series regulars who are also entered for Thursday’s race.
Practice begins at 3PM on Thursday,
followed by qualifying at 5PM. Pre-race festivities will start at 6:45PM,
with the nights first race scheduled to begin at 7:30PM.
