Sunoco Super
Series To Race At Famed Berlin Raceway
Salem,
Ind. (November 13, 2002) - CRA Sunoco Super Series officials
along with Berlin Raceway officials have announced that Berlin
Raceway will host a Sunoco Super Series event in 2003. The half-mile
track located in Marne, Michigan, about 8 miles west of Grand
Rapids, Michigan has had one of the top short track programs in the
Mid-west for several years. The Sunoco Super Series will race at
Berlin Raceway on Saturday, June 14th.
“We
are really excited about having the Sunoco Super Series at Berlin
Raceway in 2003,” commented Berlin Raceway President Scott Lane.
“We formed our 2003 schedule with a back to the basics approach,
and the Sunoco Super Series will be a perfect fit to that
thinking. The series has a very talented group of drivers from all
over our region, and has built a solid fan base, this will be one
of the highlights of Berlin Raceway's 2003 season.”
Berlin
Raceway has been the home track for several top short track
drivers including Randy Sweet, Fred Campbell, Butch Miller and
Johnny Benson. Benson, who picked up his first NASCAR Winston Cup
Series victory on November 3, became part owner of the track last
season.
“Berlin Raceway will be a great addition to the Sunoco Super
Series schedule,” remarked CRA Sunoco Super Series Managing
Partner R.J. Scott. “Berlin has a great reputation for bringing in
the fans every week, and for providing some very exciting racing
action. We expect our series regulars to get some very tough
competition from several local drivers, it should be a great
race!”
