Sunoco Super
Series Races Holiday Events at Angola Motor Speedway In 2003
Salem,
Ind. (November 26, 2002) - CRA Sunoco Super Series officials and
Angola Motor Speedway officials announced today that Angola Motor
Speedway would host two Sunoco Super Series events again in 2003.
Angola Motor Speedway has had a Sunoco Super Series event on its
schedule every year since 1998. Angola Motor Speedway will continue to
have its traditional Fourth of July Sunoco Super Series show on
Friday, July 4th. Last season's 4th of July show was one of the best
races of the 2002 season with Scott Hantz and eventual winner Junior
Hanley battling side by side for several laps.
For
the first time ever, Angola Motor Speedway will have the Sunoco Super
Series be a part of their huge 2003 Labor Day Weekend show on
Saturday, August 30th.
“We
have had tremendous success with the 4th of July show the last two
years,” remarked Angola Motor Speedway owner Dick Poe. “With all the
lakes in this area, Angola Motor Speedway draws its best crowds on
holiday weekends. It just seemed to be a natural fit to have the
Sunoco Super Series be a part of our big Labor Day Weekend show!”
Angola
Motor Speedway owner Dick Poe has been a strong supporter of the
Sunoco Super Series far several seasons. Poe is the car owner of 2000
Sunoco Super Series Champion and Rookie Of The Year Scott Hantz. Poe
is also the owner of EMF Corporation, a sponsor of the Sunoco Super
Series and the sponsor of Champion Racing Association with its outlaw
late model event at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
“I
couldn't begin to tell you how much Dick Poe has meant to the Sunoco
Super Series,” commented Sunoco Super Series Director Glenn Luckett.
“Dick gives the series a great facility to race at twice a year, he
fields one of the best teams this series has ever had with driver
Scott Hantz, and he has been the sponsor of the Hard Luck Award the
past two seasons because he cares about all the series racers from the
winners down to the guy who finishes last. It is the effort of people
like Dick Poe that have helped make the Sunoco Super Series a
success!”
