PRI Trade Show
Weekend Notes
Salem, Ind.
(December 9, 2002) -Glenn and RJ were seen meeting with Charlie
Shaw, owner of Winchester Speedway, and Ed Friddle. Could this mean an
answer on the Winchester 400 soon, keep checking the web site to find
out!
-
Bobby Murany and
car owner Brian Robertson are planning on racing again with the Sunoco
Super Series in 2003. They will be at Anderson Speedway on April 19th
for the opener. How many races they run will depend on the results of
the first couple of races!
-
Joey Gwin, Crew Chief for Ray Skillman was cruising the show. Joey
says Ray will run less NASCAR All-Pro and more Sunoco events in
2003! They swapped a Port City Chassis for Jim Crabtree's Lefthander
Chassis he won in 2001.
- Scott
Baker will be racing fulltime with the Hooters Pro Cup North in
2003, but will make selected starts with the Sunoco Series with Jim
Baker's #74 car when his schedule allows!
-
Junior
Hanley was seen prowling the aisles at PRI. Junior says if Larry
Zent builds him an apartment next to the shop he'll be racing with
the Sunoco Series again for Larry in 2003. First he'll have to make
a visit to Florida for some racing during speedweeks.
-
Speaking of Junior, did everyone see the "radical" body in the
Five-Star Racecar Bodies booth. Junior helped design that body, he
will use it in Florida during speedweeks. No, that body is not legal
for use with the Sunoco Super Series, unless you want to carry a lot of
extra weight!
- The
entire Parsley family was at the show. Bobby intends to run the
entire 2003 Sunoco Series schedule. Mom and Dad say they will need
some sponsor help to make all the shows! What a great family and
driver, I hope they can find some help!
- Tim
Phillips says he's ready to go for 2003! He has three cars ready to
go, and he is looking to purchase a new trailer so he can have at
least two cars at every race!
-
Chet
Blanton was working in the C & R Racing booth. Chet's new engine
business will be up and running soon. Chet will be also helping a
northern chassis company trying to make some headway in the Sunoco
Super Series! Chet will be racing when time allows, there is a good
chance he'll have a second car at races with some new "shoes"
wanting to compete with the series!
- Kevin
Gingrich made the haul from Kansas to the PRI Show. He'll make as
many shows as he can in 2003. It's great to see guys want to drive
that far to compete in our series!
- Gary
Terry was visiting the show from North Carolina. Gary is trying to
put together a sponsor package so he can come back and race some
series shows in 2003. Good Luck Gary, it would be great to see you
race with us again!
-
Wisconsin driver Brad Mueller was at the Pathfinder booth, Brad says
we'll see more of him in 2003. He'll be at Anderson Speedway on
April 19th, he has to win a series race since his big rival Ron
Breese Jr. got one last year.
- County
Joe Racing Marketing Manager Dick Melius was walking the aisles.
Dick says Joey Miller will run some shows with the Sunoco Series
next year. they plan on running 6 to 8 ASA races, as well as some
NASCAR RE/Max Series shows in 2003.
- Former
Kendall Motor Oil Marketing Manager Ed Dawson was at the show. Ed is
doing free lance marketing now, mostly in drag racing. Good luck Ed,
hopefully we'll see you more at some future Sunoco Super Series
races!
