Hantz, Muffley and Charles Get CRA Wins At Winchester Speedway

Winchester, IN (April 28, 2008) – Scott Hantz, Carl Muffley and Bill Charles all came away with CRA victories on Sunday afternoon on the High Banks of Winchester Speedway in the rescheduled season opener for all three series that was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but was postponed by a week because of rain. A large crowd came back out to see the event, which included the USAC Sprint Car Series in the Rich Vogler Classic. S.E.A.L. to Help Cut Cost and Police Sealed Engines in Super Late Model World

 

Several Racing Series Team Up With Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders

 

How would you like to have a competitive Super Late Model on some of the best tracks in the country with an engine that costs half of what others do?  It's quickly becoming a reality.  Several industry leaders announced today the formation of the Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders.  S.E.A.L, as it will be known, has been spearheaded by race promoter R.J. Scott and is made up of several entities including the engine producers, McGunegill Engine Performance, Hamner Racing Engines and other racing series.  The Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders is an effort to keep Super Late Model racing around with a lower cost alternative to the traditional 9:1 or steel head motors.  Click Here.

 

CRA Super Series Hopeful Mother Nature Lets The 2008 Season Begin On Sunday

Salem, IN (April 24, 2008) – Officials from the CRA Super Series are hopeful that Mother Nature will let their 2008 racing season begin in this Sunday’s rescheduled Manning Service 100 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. The event was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but was postponed because of persistent rain showers, just after practice had been completed after drying the track from morning showers.  Click Here.

Howe CRA Sportsman Series Anderson 75 Contingency Awards Announced

Salem, IN (April 24, 2008) – Champion Racing Association Officials have announced the Contingency Awards from this past Saturday’s Anderson 75 for the Howe CRA Sportsman Series event at Anderson Speedway. In order to receive the awards, the car owner and driver must be licensed series members and properly display each sponsors stickers on both sides of their racecar. Nashville CRA Street Stock Spring Clash Event Will Not Be Rescheduled At this Time

Series Teams That Showed Up To Participate Will Receive 25 Appearance Points

Salem, IN (April 23, 2008) – Champion Racing Association officials have announced that the CRA Street Stock special event with the Spring Clash at the Music City Motoplex in Nashville that was postponed because of weather will not be rescheduled at this time. The Music City Motorplex is looking into possibly scheduling another such event later in the season, possibly with the All American 400 weekend.  Click Here.

Pit Gates To Open 30 Minutes Earlier For Winchester Speedway’s Season Opener

Rain Checks and Pit Bands Good For This Sunday Or Any Other 2008 Event

Winchester, IN (April 22, 2008) – The schedule of events for this Sunday’s rescheduled Winchester Speedway season opener has been slightly revised. Pit gates will open now at 7:30am instead of 8am in order to give teams some additional time to unload their rigs and set up their pits prior to the beginning of practice at 10am. Click Here.

Winchester Speedway Season Opener Postponed One Week Because of Weather

Winchester, IN (April 20, 2008) – The racing events scheduled for Sunday, April 20th at Winchester Speedway were postponed one week because of weather. Pit gates will open on Sunday, April 27 at 8am, spectator gates at 9:30 am with practice beginning at 10am. Qualifying will follow at 12:15pm. The race program will begin at 2pm with heat races from the USAC National Sprint Cars and CRA Street Stocks followed by the 30 lap Rich Vogler Classic for the USAC National Sprint Cars, the Manning Service 100 for the CRA Super Series late models, the MAX 40 for the CRA Street Stocks and the Vores Welding & Steel 20 for the Vores Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts. Howe CRA Sportsman Anderson 75

Dager Wins Howe CRA Sportsman Season Opener

Anderson, IN (April 21, 2008) - Veteran modified driver Tony Dager set second fast time, started ninth, slipped through the field to win the first Howe CRA Sportsman race he started at Anderson Speedway on Saturday night.  Dager took the lead just before halfway passing Anderson Speedway regular Brandon Phillips. Dager never looked back to get the win

"I really like the Howe CRA Sportsman series right now!"  Dager remarked from Victory Lane.  "This is the first time I have raced a late model type car, and it was fun! I usually race modifieds, and this was different, but with the win I really enjoyed today’s race."  Click Here.

Ric Pfeifer won the first heat, and his teammate Mark Soots in Pfeifer's truck won the second heat.

Nick Lay Set New Track Record

Nick Lay set a new track record with a time of 13.109 seconds.  Tony Dager also broke the old track record with a time of 13.240, Zach Hulvey was third at 13.247, Rick Rinehart fourth at 13.352 and Billy Hutson, 2007 Howe CRA Sportsman Champion was fifth with a time of 13.377.

Lay then drew a 10 for the invert putting Brandon Phillips on the pole.

Zach Hulvey Fastest in Practice

Zach Hulvey turned a lap of 13.351 seconds to set fast time in the Howe CRA Sportsman practice session.  Nick Lay was second with a time of 13.353, Tony Dager was third at 13.491, Rick Rinehart fourth at 13.503, and John Marshall fifth at 13.536.

Standard aftermarket upper A-frames will be allowed in the CRA Street Stocks for the 2008 season with a 35lbs weight penalty.
