2009 Winchester 400 Runner-Up Brian Rievley Enters Labor Day Event

 

Salem, IN (September 2, 2010) - 1998 CRA Super Series Champion Brian Rievley has pre-entered the McGunegill Engine Performance 100 at Winchester Speedway slated for Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6. This event will mark the second occasion Rievley has competed with the series during the 2010 season.

 

"I’m looking forward to getting back into the racecar at Winchester," said Brian Rievley. "My main goal this weekend is providing good feedback on the setup so we have a good handling car for the Winchester 400. Team Construction Clean Sweep Award up to $600 for Winchester Monday

 

Salem, IN (September 2, 2010) The Team Construction Clean Sweep Award has grown to $600 for this Monday’s CRA Super Series McGunegill Engine Performance 100 at Winchester Speedway. Ross Kenseth was the last to claim the award at the Manning Service 100 at Winchester Speedway on May 16th, the third event of the season. Niewiek Takes Over Lead in Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Standings

 

Salem, IN (September 2, 2010) – Perfect Circle Racecars Rookie of the Year competitor Jay Niewiek has taken over the lead in the Cometic Gasket Hardcharger Standings with 58 gained positions after eight CRA Super Series point events so far this season heading into this Monday’s McGunegill Engine Performance 100 at Winchester Speedway. Salem, IN (September 1, 2010) - Defending series champion John VanDoorn and his KAOS Motorsports team continues to lead the CRA Super Series championship standings after the most recent event at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 28.

 

The Coopersville, Mich., driver earned a valuable 10 bonus points after scoring his second pole position of the season in the JVM Enterprises/Nelson Kohman 125. Maynard Jr. Gets First CRA Win at Plymouth

 

Plymouth, IN (August 30, 2010) - On a beautiful August evening, Ron Maynard, Jr. went to Victory Lane in the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series event at Plymouth Speedway Saturday night, it was his first ever CRA win. John Barlow finished in second, Kale Asztalos was third, Joe Beaver fourth and Bob Sibila was fifth.

 

Earlier in the day, twenty-eight teams signed-in to compete in the 75-lap affair. Tony Dager & Greg Gifford experienced mechanical problems in practice leaving 26 cars to start the race. Derrick Griffin set fast time in Allstar Performance qualifying and then drew a twelve for the invert. John Heck and Sibila brought the field to the green flag with Sibila taking the lead and holding it for the first 19 laps. Maynard got by Sibila on lap 20 and led to the checkered flag. Click Here.

Campbell Survives to Win at Columbus

Columbus, OH (August 28, 2010) - In a rough and tumble JVM Enterprises/Nelson Kohman 125 at Columbus Motor Speedway Saturday night, Brain Campbell took the lead on the 96th lap and got his second CRA Super Series win of 2010.  Starting on the pole of the race, hometown racer Tyler Nuckles took the early lead and held on to it despite challenges from Scott Hantz and later Johnny VanDoorn. On the 96th lap VanDoorn bumped Nuckles on the front stretch sending him into the infield as they fought their way through lapped traffic.  Both drivers were sent to the tail, Nuckles for spinning and VanDoorn for causing the spin.  Campbell inherited the lead and held off a strong Hantz to win.  Robbie Pyle finished third, Tommy St. John fourth, Jim Crabtree, Jr fifth.

"We started the year strong, and in the middle it was just chaos, we are glad to be back on the right track."  Campbell commented.  "We did well at Toledo a couple of weeks ago, taking a brand new car out and working the bugs out of it.  This car has won four races so far this year, we seem to be going in the right direction."  Click Here.

John VanDoorn Fast Qualifier

 

Only one car slipped under 14 seconds in practice but on new cars for qualifying nine cars made it into the 13 seconds with John VanDoorn setting fast time at 13.859 seconds Tommy St. John is second at 13.894 seconds.  Scott Hantz is third, Brian Campbell fourth and Tyler Nuckles qualified fifth.

JVM Enterprises/Nelson Kohman 125 Pre-Race Notes

Scott Hantz earned the 2004 victory at Columbus and is the current runner-up in the CRA Super Series points standings. In his previous four starts at Columbus he has posted three podium finishes.

In the previous six events all winners have started in the top eight positions and Hantz believes that will be important tonight. "In this series it’s always important to be in top eight and make the inversion. Being in the invert is always our goal." Click Here.

 

Nuckles Fast for the Day

 

Only one driver has broken the 14 second barrier today in practice, Tyler Nuckles turned a lap at 13.983 seconds.  CRA Super Series points leader Johnny VanDoorn was close behind at 14.002 seconds.  Brian Campbell was third, Tommy St. John was fourth and Scott Hantz was fifth.

Henderson Experiences Engine Issues

 

Brain Campbell set fast time in the first practice session for the CRA Super Series with a time of 14.065 seconds, Tyler Nuckles was second at 14.069 seconds.  Terry Fisher, Jr. was third, David Carter fourth and Tommy St. John fifth. 

 

Eighteen year old Sloan Henderson experienced engine issues and dropped out during the first practice session.  It appears she is done for the day.

Eighteen-year-old Sloan Henderson will attempt to make her first career start in the CRA Super Series on Saturday, August 28 in the CRA 125 at Columbus Motor Speedway. CRA Super Series Set to Return to Columbus Motor Speedway Saturday

 

Salem, IN (August 24, 2010) The CRA Super Series will head back to the state of Ohio this Saturday for it’s second event of the season in the buckeye state at Columbus Motor Speedway. The series last competed on the tight quarter mile in June of 2007 when Robbie Pyle got his first ever series victory. The former ASA Racing Series competitor was a regular competitor at Columbus Motor Speedway for several years before moving up to compete full time with ASA for several seasons. Salem, IN (August 24, 2010) Jay Niewiek Motorsports has announced that they have signed T.A.A.G. Tooling and Accessories Group of Wyoming, Michigan as a sponsor for the remaining 2010 season and for the 2011 season. 16-year-old Jay Niewiek, with Jay Niewiek Motorsports, is competing in his first season in a full size stock car racing with the CRA Super Series. Series Notes Heading Into CRA 125

 

The CRA Super Series will make their seventh appearance at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 28 in the CRA 125. This marks the second consecutive event in the Buckeye State after the series made its annual appearance at Toledo Speedway on Friday, August 13. On Saturday, practice begins at 1 p.m. with the racing program starting at 4. Tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for kids. Brown Makes It Two in a Row

 

Winchester, IN (August 22, 2010) - Starting eighth Tim Dilg fought through traffic to take the lead on the fourth lap of the Vore’s Welding and Steel 20 at Winchester Speedway and built it up while the other cars fought the same traffic.  Justin Brown came from his 12th starting position to get into second with Dilg having a long lead.  As the laps wound down Brown was creeping up on Dilg but it seemed he was going to run out of race before catching him.  Then on the 15th lap two cars got together and spun coming out of the fourth turn bringing out the only caution of the race.  Brown jumped ahead on the restart and held on to win his second Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts race in a row on Old Timer's Weekend. Dilg finished second, Jeff Shelmadine third, Jess Drook fourth and Cary Arbell fifth.

 

"I was very surprised I could get him on the restart, I was really nervous about it."  Brown stated. "The car was good, it started pushing when the sun came out but I fought through it and did the best I could."  Click Here.

Dilg and Williams Take Heat Races

 

Tim Dilg came from his seventh starting position to take the lead on the third lap on his way to the win in the fast heat for the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts.  Second fast qualifier Cary Abrell caused the only caution when his transmission plug blew out blowing fluid around the track.  Jeff Williams drove through the field to take the lead coming to the white flag to beat Bobby Cook and take the win in the second heat.

New Track Record

 

Justin Brown set a new track record for the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts with a time of 20.947 seconds just beating the old track record of 20.967 of Rex Zimmerman set on October 4, 2009.  Cary Abrell was second at 21.040 seconds, Jeff Shelmadine third, Jess Drook fourth and Tim Dilg fifth.

Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 to Pay $8000 to Win

 

Champion Racing Association is pleased to announce that the Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 for the CRA Super Series will pay the winner $8000. The event will be held on Saturday, September 18th at O’Reilly Raceway Park. The event will be a four tire, non-pit stop, 100 lap event. Old-Timers Weekend Featuring the Rich Vogler Classic this Weekend at Winchester Speedway

 

Winchester, IN (August 17, 2010) Racing action will return to the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway with the legendary Old Timers Weekend, which will include the Rich Vogler Classic for the USAC National Sprint Car Series this Saturday and Sunday. The event honors the memory of the great Rich Vogler who won 171 USAC events during his career including 10 wins at Winchester Speedway. Allman Takes Anderson 75

ANDERSON, Ind. (August 14, 2010) Anderson’s Rob Allman turned in a dominating performance leading all 75 laps to capture the Champion Racing Association Street Stock feature at Anderson Speedway on the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Night at the Races on Saturday.

 

With the fastest 10 cars inverted for the start, Allman started on the pole position alongside Rich Boyer and rocketed into the lead. Boyer was able to stay close to Allman until lap 10 when he was black flagged as the result of a leaking valve cover.

 

"This is my first CRA win and I have to thank Motion Motors and Outlaw Racing without them it would not have been possible."  Allman commented.  "I also want to thank my sponsors, my crew, and everybody that stuck in there and did it.  It is easy when you are driving a car that ran like this one did tonight."  Click Here.

Poore Sets Fast Time

 

Josh Poore set fast time for the CRA Street Stock, Anderson 75 at Anderson Speedway with a time of 14.140.  Bret Miles Jr. was second at 14.175 seconds, Calvin Parham third, Danny Smith fourth and Jeff Perry fifth.

VanDoorn Noses His Way to Victory

 

After being knocked out of a third place finish at the Redbud 300 on the last lap of the race Johnny VanDoorn was not going to let anyone stand in his way to victory in the Klotz Synthetic Lubricants 100 Presented by Spray Power.  On the 64th lap Scott Hantz was blocking down on VanDoorn as Hantz was trying to maintain his lead when VanDoorn used the chrome horn to knock Hantz loose to slip under him for the lead. 

VanDoorn then ran out to a large lead as Hantz battled Joey Miller for second.  Miller took second, Hantz third, Nick Gullatta fourth and Brian Campbell finished fifth. 

 

"Scott and I have raced together a lot in outlaws and in these cars since I was 17 years old, and he has been doing it for a very long time."  VanDoorn stated.  "He holds his ground and doesn't give in.  I poked my nose in there and he didn't move and I got to do what I got to do."   Click Here.

Joey Miller Sets Fast Time

 

Scott Hantz put down a strong lap of 15.700 seconds that stood after most other drivers had made a run at it including Johnny VanDoorn current track record holder.  But Joey Miller had other ideas and turned a lap of 15.671 seconds to win the EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier Award.  Nick Gullatta was fourth with Jeff Lane was fifth.

VanDoorn Fastest in Practice

 

Johnny VanDoorn is the current CRA Super Series track record holder at Toledo Speedway and he seems intent on keeping that title with a lap of 15.798 seconds.  He is one of only two cars to break the 16 second barrier in practice and fastest than second fast car in practice Brian Campbell by .140 seconds.  Joey Miller was third john Long fourth and Nick Gullatta fifth.

Purdy to Lead Off CRA Super Series Qualifying

 

Adam Purdy drew the number 1 pill for the qualifying draw and will lead off CRA Super Series qualifying for the Klotz Synthetic Lubricants 100 Presented by Spray Power.  Tommy St. John will be second off the line with Jack Kalwasinski going out third.  25 cars are at the track.

Salem, IN (August 12, 2010) – After a one-year absence, Champion Racing Association will once again be racing at the famed O’Reilly Raceway Park located in Clermont, Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis. The Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock N Race 100 will take place on Saturday, September 18th for the CRA Super Series. Salem, IN (August 11, 2010) – CRA Chief Technical Inspector Eddie Chew is well known to many racers for being thorough and fair while keeping the rules, and making sure everyone is playing by the rules. He is also well known for his goatee. Now everyone has a chance to have a say in the rules for him.

Team Construction Clean Sweep Award up to $400 for Toledo Friday

 

Salem, IN (August 10, 2010) – The Team Construction Clean Sweep Award has grown to $400 for this Friday’s CRA Super Series Klotz Synthetic Lubricants 100 Presented by Spray Power at Toledo Speedway. Ross Kenseth was the last to claim the award at the Manning Service 100 at Winchester Speedway on May 16th, the third event of the season. Toledo Speedway up Next for the CRA Super Series

 

Salem, IN (August 9, 2010) – The CRA Super Series will make its first of two straight visits to the Buckeye state this Friday in the Klotz Synthetic Lubricants 100 Presented by Spray Power at Toledo Speedway. Friday’s event will be the 12th CRA Super Series event that has been contested on the fast half-mile ARCA sanctioned track. NASCAR Star and part-time CRA Super Series competitor Kyle Busch will be on hand for Friday’s event, but he will not be able to race because of his commitments to his NASCAR Sprint Cup race team, but will be signing autographs and giving some lucky fans a ride around the track on a school bus. CRA FWD Compacts Added to Anderson Speedway’s September 18th Race Program

 

Salem, IN (August 3, 2010) – One day after losing a scheduled event at Baer Field Speedway, the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts are now being added to the Saturday, September 18th race program at Anderson Speedway. Rick Dawson, the owner of Anderson Speedway, agreed to add the division to his program that night, which also includes the CRA Street Stocks. The event will pay $150 to win and $20 to start. Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Anderson 75 Contingency Awards

 

Salem, IN (August 3, 2010) – Champion Racing Association Officials have announced the Contingency Awards from this past Saturday’s Anderson 75 event for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series at Anderson Speedway. In order to receive the awards, the car owner and driver must be licensed series members and properly display each sponsors stickers on both sides of their racecar. Lack of Sponsorship Cited as Need for CRA Removal From Schedule
 

Ft. Wayne, IN (August 2, 2010) – Champion Racing Association and Baer Field Speedway officials announced today that the September 18th event originally scheduled at the Ft. Wayne, Indiana track will no longer feature the CRA Super Series or Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts. Lack of sponsorship dollars was cited for the necessary change.  CRA is expected to announce later this week a replacement venue/event and Baer Field officials are expected to announce changes in the support divisions for the HOSS Outlaw Winged Sprints that will still be featured at the 1/2 mile track on the September 18th date.

Brian Campbell to Make his ARCA Debut This Weekend at Berlin

Brian Campbell will make his ARCA Racing Series debut this coming Saturday at his hometrack of Berlin Raceway (MI).  Campbell will drive the #24 entry owned by Don DeWitt of D & B Motorsports and sponsored by the Hantz Group. Campbell will serve as a teammate to the #27 entry of Michael Simko. Campbell is currently racing full time with the CRA Super Series were he scored a win at Berlin on May 8th, it was his third series victory at Berlin.
