Campbell Survives to Win at Columbus
Columbus, OH (August 28, 2010) -
In
a
rough and tumble JVM Enterprises/Nelson Kohman 125 at Columbus Motor
Speedway Saturday night, Brain Campbell took the lead on the 96th
lap and got his second CRA Super Series win of 2010. Starting on
the pole of the race, hometown racer Tyler Nuckles took the early lead
and held on to it despite challenges from Scott Hantz and later Johnny
VanDoorn. On the 96th lap VanDoorn bumped Nuckles on the front stretch
sending him into the infield as they fought their way through lapped
traffic. Both drivers were sent to the tail, Nuckles for
spinning and VanDoorn for causing the spin. Campbell inherited
the lead and held off a strong Hantz to win. Robbie Pyle
finished third, Tommy St. John fourth, Jim Crabtree, Jr fifth.
"We started
the year strong, and in the middle it was just chaos, we are glad to
be back on the right track." Campbell commented. "We did
well at Toledo a couple of weeks ago, taking a brand new car out and
working the bugs out of it. This car has won four races so far
this year, we seem to be going in the right direction."
