fast in a fast field of
cars at the first Howe CRA
Late Model Sportsman event
of the 2009 season the
Anderson 75 Saturday night
at Anderson Speedway. He
qualified 11th fastest but
only .275 seconds behind
fast qualifier, Keith
Sterkowitz. Sterkowitz
drew a 12 for the invert
putting
Ric Pfeifer on the pole
and Hanna on the outside
of the front row.
Hanna took the lead on the
first lap and never gave
it up in spirited racing
action throughout the
race. Rookie competitor
Steve Stacy finished
second passing Ric
Pfeifer in the closing
laps, Pfeifer finished
third and both drivers
stayed on Hanna's tail the
entire race, never letting
him build up much of a
lead, but not quite able
to pass as the drivers
raced in a five or six car
packs through out the
race. Steve Minich, Jr.
held off Adam Hudson for
fourth with Hudson
finishing fifth.
"I have to thank my
step Dad and my Mom they
gave me a set of tires for
my birthday a few weeks
ago and with out that we
would not be here. A
couple of my crew members
gave me the oil for the
engine as a birthday
present also." An
emotional Hanna said in
Victory Lane. "It
was an awesome race, Ric
Pfeifer and Steve Stacy
raced me clean, and only a
few yellow flags at
Anderson, it was great.
I was really hanging on
there at the end, my
brakes started to go about
lap 50-55 so I was really
hoping for no more
yellows, and we almost got
it."
