J.R.
was the 1989 track champion at Plymouth Speedway and the 1990 titlist
at New Paris Speedway and then moved to the Midwest Series. He has one
career victory which came at I-44 Speedway in Lebannon, MO coming on
June of 1996. In 1997, J.R. Finished in the top three on three occasions
in select appearances in the Sunoco Super Series. In 2000, he returned
to the series at his home track at Plymouth and finished in the third
position. In 2001, he raced a partial schedule, competing in nine
events, posting six top-five finishes, eight top-tens and one pole. J.R.
also competed in the All Pro and Midwest series. In 2002, Roahrig
collected two victories at Angola and Baer Field and placed sixth in the
final standings.
THIS driver has finished 6th
in the final point standings in four of the last seven years. And although
the points may not reflect it, everyone else considers them a legitimate top 5
team when they take to the track. During 2006 he competed in
every point and non points event, he recorded 1 fast time, 5 top 5
qualifying efforts, take 6 top 5’s and 8 top tens and finished 4th
overall in laps completed. After hard crashes that hurt his car in 2007 he
was forced to miss several races. In 2008 Roahrig also was forced to
miss races after hard crashes destroyed his car and he needed time to
rebuild it.
2009 was a different year for Roahrig as
he stepped back from running full time to be crew chief for his son Tyler.
He ran a limited schedule but still finished in the Top 15 in points with
2 Top 5 finishes and 4 Top 10's.
