Jim
began his racing career in mini-stocks at Mt. Lawn Speedway in 1989.
From 1990-1994, he was a regular on the Mini-Stock Owners Association (MSOA)
and collected approximately 50 career victories. He began competing in
the late models in 1995 at Anderson, Salem and Winchester speedways. Jim
has been a regular in the Sunoco Super Series since 1997 and has one
victory, one pole and has finished in the top-five in points on three
occasions. In 2001, Jim won his first career event at Shadybowl Speedway
in May. He held off some of the strongest competitors in the series with
Brian Ross, Scott Hantz and J.R. Roahrig all finishing in the top five.
Jim finished seventh in the final standings and was the winner of the
Lefthander Challenge. In 2002, Jim placed fourth in the standings,
scoring four top-five finishes and 14 top 10s.
Jim placed 5 in the final points in 2003. His
team has now finished in the Top 5 in final point standings in the 5 of
the last 7 years. And as a result, they are record holder of the all
time career starts. This season they qualified in the Top 5 twice and
recorded 8 Top 10 finishes. The real testament to their effort is that
they had only one DNF certainly a true mark of a smart racer.
